In terms of stats, this was probably one of the most one sided WC finals ever played. How Argentina underperformed to this extent is beyond understanding. They just surrendered in front of the Spanish defensive wall. They seemed to rely heavily on Martínez to keep a clean sheet and take them to a penalty shootout.

@ Bold: Several sport pandits have been saying the same thing. That they were relying on Martinez and the referees to take them to penalty kick. But the referees were almost forced into being somewhat impartial with the yellow and red cards and then by not being able to deny every Spanish goal. Spain made 3 goals in extra time and only 1 counted because they had no way of banning that 1 goal.

This is the biggest thing. They consider themselves so high and mighty that they turned their own people (well apart from their country) to go root for the colonizers.

The fact that people wanted a Spain vs England final shows what they are worth and the amount of memes and celebrations taking place on Messi crying also does.

The only Argentine player getting any love after yesterday's game is Martinez because that man pulled a Vozinha in his defense. I mean the ball could be anywhere and he was there.
