Hi friends. How are you all? After a long time finally got time to write something again on our beloved ViDev. How many are still watching the NUKSH episodes repeatedly.if you guys not moved on from ViDev pls give this story a try.

Ek Din ; ViDev ka Ek Din

It’s a Two or Three shots story based on one day in ViDev’s life. The Vidhi confession day at Dhaba… but I changed the scenario completely and tried something different.

Quick introduction:

Story starts on the day when dev and Vidhi travelling to Ujjain instead of Abhi and Arjun. Here also Arjun is helping Vidhi to confess dev but Abhi didn’t requested Vidhi to make dev accept for marrying Amba. It’s only Arjun’s plan to send Vidhi and dev together to give them chance to open up to each other.

Story:

Dev surprised by seeing Vidhi instead of Arjun.. He thanked the stars for his last moment Decision to join the meeting instead of Abhi . He is excited to join Vidhi and determined to make Vidhi confess what she wanted to say from past few days though he had doubts that why Arjun sent Vidhi in his place.

Dev realised Vidhi is waiting for his approval opened the door with a smile and invited her casually. Dev breaks the akward silence and started to talk about meeting. Vidhi assured him that she prepared well and Arjun helped her to understand the presentation. Dev disturbed by listening about them stayed silent after that. He sat silent and ignoring her gaze though he know she is checking him out. They reached Ujjain and finished the meeting and locked the deal by evening ..Dev got impressed by Vidhi’s presentation skills even though she is not the part of project initially and prepared in just one night.. He remembered Arjun suddenly and felt irritated and displeased..Vidhi tried to talk with dev once they are out of meeting area but dev didn’t want to discuss the matter like that .. through out the time both wanted to talk with each other but didn’t make any advances…

They seated in car and driver took the Indore route.. Vidhi is stealing glances to check his mood and complained to herself that yeh Arjun tho confess karo confess karo .. acha mouka hai bolke mujhe iss situation mein fasa diya our yaha yeh Dev sir achanak inko yeh kya hogaya ki poore din ithana weird behave kar raha hai . Dev smiled little by seeing her blabbering turned to her and asked kuch khana hai vidhi? Vaise pichle kuch din se tum mujhe kuch important baath batana chahte ho na.. bolo kya bath hai ? Vidhi sat silent while looking at driver.. Dev asked the driver to stop the car near any chai shop as he is craving for that while looking at Vidhi..

They both went to the shop and sat on the bench.. Vidhi engrossed in listening the song while dev observing her to understand her thoughts.. Vidhi just enjoying the song and a bashful smile lit up her face unknown to her but enough to hold Dev captivated.. He lost in her smile tried to tuck her hairs dancing with the air by getting distracted from the beautiful view he never ever imagined..

Vidhi realised Dev’s attempt but maintained silence and Dev about to touch ..

chai vala: spoke loudly..sir ji madam ji yeh lo garam garam kadak chai adarak ke saath .. bringing them back from the beautiful delulu..

Both finished the chai awkwardly and went to the car..Dev asked the driver to take leave as he will manage himself..

Dev drove the car and both are stealing glances from each other but no one is dared to make a move… After some killing silent moments Vidhi spoke.. sir.. Ha bolo na Vidhi..tum kya kahana chahte ho.. replied a desperate dev.

Vidhi tried to talk something then suddenly dev felt some problem with car and it stopped abruptly… Dev sighed and got down to check the car.. he couldn’t find the exact problem and tried to get some help. Due to the isolated area Dev lost network and he couldn’t reach any mechanic.

Vidhi realised the time it’s about to get dark and the weather also suddenly changed and the heavy wind indicates the upcoming rain… she felt little scared by this and gave a timid smile to an already worried dev..

Dev came to vidhi and said Vidhi.. kuch nahi hua hai Daro math pls .. Main hu na… main kuch karta hu.. we will find a way to make her feel relaxed even though he is scared inside about the reaction of HP. Both walked some distance in the hope of getting some help and in the process they lost the way completely and don’t know where they are and adding to the misery bright darkness embraced to its depth and clouds started to shower..They tried to walk fast to find some shelter .

Dev realised vidhi shivering held her hand tightly and helping her to walk along with him.. Vidhi felt the warmth of his hand entwined their fingers and seeking refuge from the biting cold. Drawn to his heat, she unconsciously leaned closer, pressing her fragile frame against his broad shoulder. Feeling her seek shelter in his embrace,

Dev tried to lower himself as much possible silently to balance her and felt utterly helpless to see her struggle like this. He could feel her shallow shivering breaths on his neck sending strokes of chills coursing straight to his heart.

The rain was still at all its glory but even amidst the rattling sounds there was sacred silence settled between them , No words spoken, but in the deliberate lock of their fingers and the desperate alignment of their bodies a beautiful conversation is unfolding deeply between their silent souls.

Dev desperately hoping for some help and felt relieved by finding An orange yellow dimly flickering subdued light of lamp in some distance. He helped her to reach there and took her under the visor of a small house. The heat of lamp giving them the warmth and sooth they needed badly at that time.. though it’s very mild it made them feel alive again.. Dev’s eyes disturbed by the tiny sparkle made him more focused on that . A relieved smile creep up to Dev’s face. He made vidhi supported on wall and immediately grabbed the shining object.

He opened the lock with shivering hands and took vidhi inside carefully. He closed the door and immediately searched for switches and switched on the light. he started to search for some help and found some towels in a wardrobe. He handed the towel to vidhi and asked her to dry her up sooner as she is all drenched and could fall sick . Vidhi went inside to freshen up.

( FYI: Vidhi found the charger when she went for freshen up , charged her phone and finding Arjun’s uncountable missed calls, realising the flickering signal and started to message him immediately .she grew anxious, remembering the terrifying stunt HP had pulled the day of the drunk party. Desperate to protect Dev from HP's unpredictable temper, she quickly messaged Arjun, explaining the farmhouse stay and asking him to convince HP before he found out about their delayed return..)

Dev looked around to found the place as a single bedroom house with all necessities. He realised it as a small farm house . He removed his blazer, opened few buttons of shirt and turned on the heater. He took his phone and checked for network. Dev’s eyes flashed by finding the low signal level. He tried to reach HP to inform about the happenings. He tried three to four times but the network is flickering. The call connected after multiple attempts and dev tried to reason with HP . But HP said .. Dev Saab chinta ki koi baath nahi hai. Arjun ne mujhe samajha dia ki aap log kis haalat mein hai.. filhaal aap donon surakshit haina yeh kaafi hai mere liye.. Dev started to assure HP that he will take care of vidhi but the call disconnected..An irritated and Jealous dev threw his phone on the couch .

( FYI Dev thought that Vidhi called Arjun voluntarily explained everything and asked him to inform hp. He got jealous and stung by thinking that how vidhi is so close and open with Arjun more than him and he is disappointed and hurt that he lost the chance to build real trust with hp considering her)

An irritated and jealous Dev threw his phone on the couch.

But the anger that rose inside him was not truly directed towards Arjun.

It was directed towards himself.

For days, Dev had been silently waiting…

Not for a confession that would change everything.

Not for words that would magically erase the realities standing between them.

He knew better than anyone that emotions alone could not decide the course of life. He knew the problems of this relation, the societal pressure that Vidhi had to face, and the consequences waiting beyond those words.

“Yet, despite knowing all of this ,a small, helpless part of his heart, hidden even from his conscious mind, desperately wanted to hear it from her”.

He didn’t need those words to change his destiny. He knew reality would still stand between them, and he knew problems could not disappear overnight.

But after fighting his own heart for so long, a small part of him only wanted to hear from her — that this invisible connection he felt between them was not something he had imagined alone.

And perhaps that was his greatest weakness.

Dev had spent his entire life being the person who thought before acting.

The person who always chose what was right over what his heart desired.

But Vidhi had slowly become the one person who made that control feel fragile.

He reminded himself that she trusted him, that she deserved happiness, and that his role was to protect her rather than become the reason for her struggles.

So he created distance, built boundaries, and convinced himself that what he felt was only concern.

But somewhere along the way, without him realizing when it happened…Vidhi had become more than someone he wanted to protect.

She had become someone whose happiness mattered to him more than his own, whose silence affected him, and whose presence brought a peace he never knew he was searching for.

And that realization scared him the most.

Because the girl he had convinced himself he was only protecting had quietly become the person his heart had already chosen — a truth his mind was still afraid to accept.

And then finally, he opened his eyes.

For a moment, he forgot everything.

The anger.

The confusion.

The guilt.

Everything faded as his gaze fell upon her.

Dev stared at her, almost unable to believe what he was seeing.

That dark red saree carried a strange familiarity

For a fleeting second, his mind went back to one of his earliest memories of Vidhi in a saree at the office.

Back then, he had been caught completely off guard.

He remembered how his eyes had lingered for a moment longer than they should have, how unfamiliar emotions had disturbed his otherwise controlled mind, and how instead of understanding what he was feeling, he had hidden behind anger.

He had taken the easiest path.

He had convinced himself that irritation was easier to handle than acknowledging the effect she had on him.

But this time, everything was different.

The Vidhi standing before him was the same person who had earned his respect with her sincerity, her courage, and her unwavering kindness.

The same person who had slowly earned his trust and, without either of them realizing it, become the quiet peace he never knew he needed. Perhaps that was what unsettled him the most.

Because this was no longer just about an unexpected attraction.

It was about realizing how deeply she had become a part of his world.

His thoughts continued racing until the soft golden light fell across her, revealing a glimpse of the grace with which she carried herself.

The saree did not change her.

It only revealed a side of her he had unknowingly refused to acknowledge.

The confidence beneath her innocence.

The elegance beneath her simplicity.

The woman hidden within the Vidhi he had always tried to protect.

And for the first time, Dev felt completely helpless against his own heart.

Dev swallowed hard at the sight of Vidhi in that gorgeous saree. The dark red saree wrapped neatly around her was enticing enough to pique his curiosity. Saree enhanced her beauty and femininity thought dev. For the first time Dev couldn’t take his eyes off from her hidden beauty failing miserably in every attempt to look away .He watched as she briskly drying her dripping hair. The water drops on her face made her look more divine and innocent. Dev stood there entranced unable to move ,looking only at her and how her hair is dancing and scattered tiny drops on her pillowy pink cheeks.

Dev gulped looking at her. He didn't even know what she was doing to him. His eyes glowed while cherishing a tiny sparkle .

As though in a trance, he found himself moving to wipe the dripping droplets on her cheek. When his fingers brushed those translucent pearls on her cheek both felt a shock running through their bodies and vidhi gasped, leaning back in surprise , dropping her towel in shock only to be stopped by the window. Dev leaned in and tossing the towel randomly. He gently pushed her hair one side and held her hands above her head swiftly .Vidhi froze by Dev’s this closeness shut her eyes tightly . Dev waited impatiently and asked her to open her eyes politely . When she opened Dev spoke vidhi bolo.. tum kuch batana chahte haina mujhse.. bolo vo kya hai.. Vidhi tried to talk but felt nothing is happening with her.. she tried to voice out but dev’s proximity bowled all her senses . His magnetic eyes, his playful smile and his hot slow breaths making her feel jittery in her stomach. She couldn’t decipher what is she feeling exactly .

Finding her zoned out dev leaned towards her bringing his face closer huskily whispered in her ear.. bolo na vidhi… sending shivers through her spine, vidhi’s eyes grew bigger and felt her throat dried out . Dev’s eyes not even leaving her for a second .terrified yet entirely captivated by his intensity vidhi felt submissive and gathered courage to talk and spoke.. Dev sir.. Vo.. and she cut herself as her phone ranged and flashed the screen with Arjun’s name. Dev ‘s fist clinched and his lips pursed in a straight line as he is watching the flashing of name. Dev closed his eyes tightly and opened with cold piercing gaze. Smothered by a suffocating jealousy Dev’s grip tightened on her hands , his other hand instinctively found her waist, swiftly drawing her closer until barely a breath remained between them without moving his gaze before his mind could stop it.

The instant he realized how close he was, his conscience screamed at him to step back. But for those few seconds, standing before her, hearing her silent heartbeat, seeing the trust in her eyes, Dev was no longer fighting Vidhi…He was fighting himself.

Vidhi felt full weight of his fury pressing on her, his jaw clenched and she could see storm brewing in his eyes . His breath brushing against her skin , his eyes dark and heavy with that possessive intensity. She got shocked by his dangerous, magnetic, painful (questioning/ hurt )gaze and unable to process what is happening. who was this man? Vidhi is baffled by his actions , never thought dev will behave like this. She never ever even dared to dream something like this .. his jealousy , his fury and his possessiveness . Her heart jumped with joy with this new realisation of his feelings even though her mind is warning against hope.

The battle between his heart and his mind reached its peak when a flash of lightning seared through the night sky, followed by a deafening rumble, as if mirroring the storm raging between their hearts. In the very next instant, the lights plunged the room into complete darkness.

Frightened by the thunderstorm and the sudden darkness engulfing them, Vidhi instinctively reached for the one person who had always made her feel safe.

Dev.

She wrapped her arms tightly around him, and in her haste, her lips lightly brushed against his heart.

Dev melted instantly beneath her innocent touch.

That single, unguarded gesture shattered every wall he had desperately tried to rebuild.

Dev, who had been struggling with every ounce of his strength to pull himself away, froze completely. The anger, the jealousy, and the guilt that had consumed him only moments ago dissolved, replaced by a warmth he could neither resist nor deny.

Unable to fight the innocence of her embrace, Dev slowly tightened his arms around her. Then, with a tenderness he could no longer hide, he gently kissed her forehead, silently assuring her trembling, shivering form that she was safe.

For that one fleeting moment, he forgot he had been fighting himself.

Time stood still for both of them.

Time never stops, yet some moments are eternal. This was one such moment, destined to live forever in their hearts..

The power returned, almost as though even the darkness had grown jealous of the quiet light radiating from their souls. The sudden light brought them back to reality. Realising their position Dev comes back from hug and mumbled .. I will freshen up and come..

Vidhi wiped away an escaped tear of joy and realised she is wet again because of Dev’s drenched cloths but smiled shyly by reminiscing the hug…

In the bathroom, the harsh hiss of running water did nothing to drown out the heavy silence of Dev's own shame. He leaned heavily against the marble sink, his knuckles white against the stone, staring at his reflection with a rising sense of horror. His breathing was shallow and ragged.

He had completely lost control. For a man who prided himself on being mature, understanding, and fiercely protective of Vidhi's well-being, this sudden outburst was terrifying. He knew the world would judge their relationship harshly, which is why he had spent months painfully carving out a safe distance between them—silently cherishing her from afar to shield her from harm. Yet, the mere sight of Arjun’s name flashing on her screen had dismantled years of discipline in a single heartbeat, unleashing a deeply possessive, fierce jealousy he didn't know he housed.

He still didn’t know how to explain that feeling. Was that really jealousy? No. Deep down, he knew Arjun had nothing to do with this. It was his own agony of helplessness that dared to blame his very existence. In that exact moment where he was almost going to surrender himself completely to her, he couldn’t take the harsh truth that destiny ruthlessly slapped on him. Arjun's flashing name was a brutal reminder of the twenty years standing between them ..a harsh reminder of the bright, unburdened future she deserved, a future he believed he had no right to complicate.

Desperate to regain his composure and banish the guilt, he tightly shut his eyes. He wanted to erase the last few minutes, to push down the dark, possessive instinct that felt so entirely foreign to his nature. But his mind refused to cooperate.

Instead of the pain and fury, the darkness behind his eyelids filled with the vivid, searing memory of her soft lips brushing against his chest, right over his racing heart. The innocence of her sudden embrace hit him like a tidal wave, instantly dissolving the jagged edges of his fury. Slowly, helplessly, the tense line of his jaw relaxed, and an uncontrollable soft smile appeared on his lips. A profound, uncharted calmness washed over his entire demeanor, shifting his existential despair into absolute submission to what he felt.

Accepting his utter defeat at the hands of his own heart, he opened his eyes and looked directly at his reflection.

"Vidhi..." he whispered to the empty room, her name tasting like both a confession and a surrender. "How and when you changed me... it still leaves me entirely blindsided."

He shook his head, a soft, self-deprecating sigh escaping him as he leaned closer to the mirror.

"Look at me, Vidhi. This isn't the Dev I've shown to the world for so many years.

Everyone knows me as the calm, sensible man who handles everything with grace. But behind that image was someone who spent years hiding emotions he never allowed himself to express.”

His eyes softened with a mixture of awe and absolute devotion. "But with just one touch from you, my resilience and the distance I fight so hard to maintain just crumble away. You've uncovered a man I don't even recognise someone whose entire world begins and ends with you.”

He knew he had to get a firm hold on his racing heart.Steeling his resolve, he determined to rebuild the boundary he had just demolished. His plan was clear: maintain his distance and somehow survive the night. If she tried to address what had just transpired, he would slide straight back into his professional armor. Yet, a quiet ache settled in his chest. He knew Vidhi—she was too gentle, too deeply respectful to ever question him. Her absolute, trusting compliance only amplified his inner guilt.

He turned off the faucet, letting the sudden silence inside the bathroom give way to the rhythmic pounding of the rain outside. Steeling his expression, he opened the door, murmuring a silent vow to himself: if he could just manage the suffocating pull of her presence for a few more hours, they could return to Indore. Once they were back, surrounded by the familiar noise of the office and the safety of routine, he could pretend this tempestuous interlude never happened.

Dev came to the living room after refreshing and tried to focus on his phone being embarrassed. He is just scrolling the screen but focused on nothing particular.

Vidhi came with a bowl of food and handed one bowl to dev. Dev started to say something being confused.. vo main… but it died down to a faint whisper.

Vidhi ignored his confused innocent glances and handed a bowl.. kitchen mein bas yehi ek noodles hi available hai .. isiliye mein yeh banaya khane Keliye.. spoke by addressing the elephant in the room. Both immersed in finishing the food as they are very hungry and tired . As the silence stretched, Vidhi couldn't help but notice how effortlessly dashing Dev looked in casual wear.

She never seen him in a casual shirt and joggers. Her heart skipped a beat. Vidhi sat frozen, trapped in his magic as she admired his every move. She watched the slow, deliberate curve of Dev’s fingers as they lifted the noodles, unable to tear her eyes away from the rhythm of his hands.

Dev tilted his head, taking a bite with a slow, quiet intensity that made her pulse spike beneath her skin. He remained completely consumed by the bowl, entirely unaware of the wreckage he was causing to her innocent heart. When the tiny drop of dark liquid glimmers on his lower lip, Vidhi’s breath caught so sharply that a sudden, large hiccup shattered her trance. Shocked by that, her face flushed with heat as another hiccup quickly followed. Desperate to escape before he noticed her staring, Vidhi scrambled out of the room and rushed into the kitchen to grab some water.

Dev felt strangely relieved as Vidhi hurried into the kitchen.

Without realizing it, he raised his hand and rested it over his racing heart, letting out a slow, weary breath.

He had done it.

He had survived the most dangerous storm of his life without letting another word escape his lips.

Or so he thought.

His gaze drifted absent-mindedly to the half-finished bowl of noodles resting in his hands. The warmth slowly escaping from it should have grounded him in the present.

Instead…

It reminded him of another warmth.

The warmth of a trembling embrace.

The warmth of a frightened girl who had instinctively sought refuge against his heart.

He shut his eyes for a fleeting moment.

Forget this night, Dev.

Forget every stolen second before it becomes a longing you’ll never escape.

His fingers unconsciously tightened around the bowl.

But the heart has never obeyed reason.

Vidhi had always been like this.

Gentle enough to understand silence.

Kind enough to never demand explanations.

And thoughtful enough to give him the space he desperately needed, without making him feel guilty for taking it.

She is Vidhi—the epitome of kindness, and the only woman whose presence has always brought a quiet calm into his life, soothing the very roots of his silent turmoil.

A faint, almost imperceptible relief settled over his heart.

Not because his guilt had disappeared…

But because seeing her—the same trusting, innocent Vidhi—reassured him that the fragile bond between them hadn’t been shattered.

His heart, which had been drowning beneath waves of remorse only moments ago, finally found enough air to breathe.

And in that newly found silence…

Longing quietly awakened.

The walls he had painstakingly rebuilt inside the bathroom developed invisible cracks.

One memory followed another…

Not because he wished to revisit them

But because they had already become the most sacred moments of a life that had known nothing except silent longing.

The warmth of the noodles faded.

The rain outside became a distant murmur.

The farmhouse disappeared.

His heart had already wandered back to the place where time had quietly surrendered.

DEV POV

When my gaze first fell upon her, time forgot to move.

She stood near the window, wrapped in that crimson saree, while the faint golden light rested gently upon her as though it had chosen her alone.

The delicate fabric shimmered softly, yet it wasn’t the saree that held my gaze.

It was her.

Every graceful curve… every tiny droplet resting upon her glowing skin… every strand of damp hair dancing with the evening breeze…

Without realizing when or why, I had already begun walking towards her.

It felt as though my feet no longer belonged to me.

As though my heart had silently taken control of the life my mind had disciplined for years.

She didn’t move.

But I noticed the gentle rise and fall of her breathing.

She knew.

She knew I was standing before her.

Yet she waited…

Trusting me.

I reached towards her trembling cheek and brushed away the tiny crystal droplets resting there. The instant my fingers touched her skin, a quiet shiver travelled through my entire being.

I had imagined countless times what it would feel like to stand this close to her.

Reality surpassed every dream I had quietly buried within myself.

For one suspended heartbeat, I forgot the world.

I forgot my fears.

I forgot the years separating us.

There was only Vidhi…

And the miracle that destiny had somehow placed her within my reach.

She leaned back instinctively, her fingers searching for support against the window.

Afraid she might lose her balance, I instinctively held both her hands above her head.

Her eyes squeezed shut.

Her cheeks flushed deeper.

Her entire petite frame trembled beneath my touch.

In that single moment…

I truly believed I was holding the purest, most beautiful soul this world had ever created.

I wanted nothing more than to remain there.

Not to rush her.

Not to steal a confession.

Only to wait…

Until her heart found the courage to speak on its own.

But destiny had other plans.

My own foolish jealousy shattered the very moment I had waited long to experience.

Even now, remembering it fills me with unbearable shame.

And yet…

Another memory quietly followed.

Darkness swallowed the room.

Without hesitation…

She ran into my arms.

The innocent brush of her lips against my heart healed wounds I hadn’t even realised I carried.

For years, I believed peace was something people searched for.

That night…

Peace found me.

I had spent years convincing myself that moments like these were never meant for someone like me.

Yet, in that silent embrace…

I felt complete for the very first time in my existence.

It was as though every lonely year I had quietly endured had led me to those few sacred seconds in her arms.

Her innocent embrace did more than comfort me. It reached a part of me I had forgotten existed and gave peace to a heart that had spent years fighting itself.

I was utterly captivated by how flawlessly her petite form rested against me, as though she had always belonged there—the final, sacred piece that completed a puzzle my heart had been unknowingly piecing together for years.

For one fleeting moment…

I wasn’t merely surviving.

I was living.

And in that very moment, I realised something my heart had already known before my mind could accept it.

I know without a doubt that this one precious memory alone is enough for me to cherish her love for the rest of my life.

I had promised myself i would forget.

But my heart, traitorous and tender, had already chosen otherwise.

And worse—

It was not choosing her loudly.

It was choosing her quietly.

The kind of choice that could never be undone.

—————-

Lost in the depth of that memory, Dev blushed without even realizing it, still feeling the lingering, ghost-like pressure of his lips against her soft forehead.

“The more he tried to forget that evening, the more his heart clung to every stolen second as though it were reliving the happiest moments of a life that had known only quiet longing until then.”

Dev came to his senses upon hearing the feeble ramblings of Vidhi .He rushed into kitchen to check on her.

Vidhi sat on the kitchen counter and looking down blabbering something faintly.

Dev grew confused and asked with worry… Vidhi yaha kya kar rahi ho tum?… kya hua hai?

Vidhi tilted her chin up and pouted …

Dev sir… kyon chilla rahe hain aap?" she complained softly. "Aapko jaanna hai na yaha kya hua hai…par yeh tho top secret hain top secret …she giggled and said…. (she signed him to come near ) apne kaan ko bhejiye yaha pe…….

ha apne kaan ko layiye yaha…

Dev looked around the room , jerked his shoulders , gulped and murmured to himself…

OH GOD DEV.. NOT AGAIN…..🤭

To be continued..
