Partly true. More correctly to keep Rakshit away or keep a distance b/w them for a while. "dheere dheere pyaar ko badhaana hai.... ".

I have seen many one sided love story ishliye i wanted R to move away becz what malti was making him do that's not part of his personality its more of Malti nd lalit .Malti was giving him false hope it can turn into obsession too, if he kept listening to her.
