It's so easy to judge a book by it's cover without reading the story. And it's so easy to judge people for who they are without knowing what they've been through.
When Roshan said to Shikha Maa about people like Anjali having it all easy, I almost started giggling at the irony. Of course she thinks Anjali's life is perfect because Akaash loves her. That's been her dream for so many years. But when our dream comes true for someone else, that does not mean that that was their dream too.
Sure, Anjali loves Akaash as well. He lights up her life in a way that was never before. But he wasn't her dream. Her dream was Everest, her dream was winning her father's heart. And that seems to ebb away with the opportunity to summit Everest looking bleak due to weather conditions.
I did find Anjali's plea to accompany the rescue mission a little foolish considering her lack of experience. She might have been a star student at NIM but she would be more a liability than an asset. But I understand her frustration. And more than anything else, she is frustrated with her own expectation that Everest would come easily to her. Miles away in Mumbai, there is a woman who feels Anjali has everything easy and here at base-camp, Anjali is disheartened and disappointed that the one thing she had wanted out of the entire experience is not happening.
I am not underestimating Akaash's importance or how much she appreciates having him in her life. But he is ultimately the icing. The cake is still summiting Everest and despite her feelings towards Akaash, she never lost that focus.
