Finally I mumble to myself. Finally the torment was over.
Hastily, yet in a most convincing manner I smile careful not to let the slightest signs of displeasure linger in my eyes. Then I draw back my arms, a bit hastily, from the waistline of one of the so called most desirable models in the biz. Men, a lot of men would probably sell their kidneys to be where I am today. Rock star. Player. Bad boy.
"You were just amazing Sid!" she jumps at me, throwing a bit more than her arms at me and I jump back, alarmed, to a safe distance.
"I am so happy for you." She grins, flirtatiously."I never got the chance to congratulate you on Annihilation. But here you are and I know you won't believe me but I'm a big fan. " Annihilation was my fourth album. The one which brought me inconceivable fame. The album I wish, I never had done.
Probably assuming my uncommunicativeness as a cue for her to go on, she carried on "Why don't we go somewhere and celebrate?"
Celebrate? Um, no. That was a bad idea. Or maybe the worst.
"Umm, thanks Katherine. I think I should get going now." I drawled.
"Oh. Don't play nice with me. I know exactly everything about you. I have done my share of research and I know you're a player who doesn't stick to a girl for more than a night."
Okay. Yes. I had this image about me, an image I purposeless constructed for reasons. Complicated reasons. But images needn't necessarily be what lies beneath.
"I'm sorry Katherine. I'd be the best for both of us if we halted this conversation right here because I'm not in the the state of mind to..."
She retired her hand which I suppose she was planning to swipe through my hair. Must have been me stating that I had no interest in her, especially when girls like her never get turned down.
"Okay, if that is what you like, then. Okay." I couldn't miss the disappointment in her voice. "But if you change your mind, you know where to call." she cocked her head and whispered, goodbye.
Now that was done. I wish I didn't have to do this, any of this. After things being done, after messy edges music was my only way out. I pretty much managed to establish myself but there were things which mattered more than this. Things I had deprived myself of. Yes, I'm talking about her. The girl I broke. Siyali.
