I agree with u that Mike seemed cocky but at least to me, looking beyond the surface, he was justified to a certain extent. There is no denying that Mike has the street smarts, ability to think outside the box & make things happen. Harvey understands & appreciates that (me thinks even Jessica, Louis & Soloff acknowledge these aspects of Mike). If Mike has to spread his wings & test the waters, only person who will give him the leeway is Harvey. That is why Mike spoke his heart out coz he was one more time checking his boundaries with Harvey. The stakes are extremely high for Mike & he is weighed down by the burden of personal relationships gone kaput coz of him (though I don't understand why Scottie & Jeff Malone hold Mike responsible when they both can't stand by Harvey & Jessica respectively in their hour of need, but that's a topic for another discussion). Moreover, when he was doubting himself as a lawyer based on AG's opinion that he was not a lawyer, Harvey told him that he was a fool to even think it. To counteract, Mike took on the bravado of being cocky instead coz to even think it, he would start to feel & believe in it. The case then would have closed even before it had begun. Even if Mike was outspoken against Harvey, the balance was struck with him taking the Rachel incident well enough & following it up with not going to Lola or Benjamin simply coz Harvey said so. Harvey is Harvey & Mike is a Harvey in making but unless he spreads his wings, he won't find out his strengths & weaknesses.
It is hard to believe that CF (even in prison) does not have the resources to find out that Harvey is still working at PSL but we can assume that this being tvland, he is relying on the inside sources of JS & DH first & has not gotten suspicious yet. Once he does get suspicious that he is not being informed, he might start looking elsewhere to get his information.
N8, I agree the case has not been properly built but since we were discussing characters only, I mentioned AG. I am assuming that they will let go off Mike coz AK has said in an IV, that though there will be a fallout, Mike will find it hard to practice law going forward. If the end goal is to let Mike of the hook, the case is weakened by gaps & it is deliberate. Just 6 episodes is not enuf to cover a trial of this magnitude. AG only called 2 witnesses to the stand and said prosecution rests. I can't imagine prosecution calling just 2 witnesses to prove her case! She is weakened by Jessica claiming that if called upon to testify, she would look the jury in the eye & claim to have hired Mike as a Harvard educated attorney. Not just her, but even the partners would state the same. This might have been AG's reason for skipping the partners & going straight for Donna instead, to whom she clearly stated now that I have proven that Mike is an imposter, let's prove that u r a liar. With such a direct statement, Donna, as we know, cut short the losses & pleaded Fifth.
