Sandhya Mridul, Usha Uthup and the 'pranksters' in Usha's vanity van
Sandhya Mridul was almost in tears, when singer Usha Uthup and the team of Champion Chaalbaaz No 1, a reality game show, pulled a prank on her, minutes before her stage performance as a part of Sony's special show, Dard-e-Disco.
The story goes that Usha Uthup who also performed at the event, called Sandhya in her vanity van on the pretext of rehearsing their performance as Sandhya was dancing to the tunes of Usha's popular track, Rambha Ho. The ladies were soon attacked by some goons who began to demand money from the duo. The actress, who is known for her storng will and carefree spirit, was obviously scared. She began to plead with the crooks urging them to let her go as she was only a dancer and had no money on her.
However, they continued to harass her and drove Sandhya to tears. Somehow she pushed them and managed to flee from the van. When told about the prank, Sandhya did not take it sportingly and lost her cool. She made her displeasure very evident and left the place fuming immediately after her performance.
Sandhya, when contacted laughed about it and said, "Yes, I was very angry then. The idea of playing the prank 40 minutes prior the show was not a good idea. Moreover, it was my first stage performance. I guess the timing was wrong." Why did she start sobbing? "I was very unwell on that particular day so I started crying. But I gave it back to them. I was angry then, but now I laugh whenever I'm reminded of it. I cannot hold grudges against anyone for long."
