They needed another so-called 'enemy' so that Sanjh could fight against him. If Maya and Samay are evils in this show then Sanjh has to fight them both; she being the 'good' one. Prior to this, she was only struggling for Ayaan. I agree though, murder wasn't needed because TBH I expected some sensible manipulation at least from Samay in this show. He started off well but lost his brains somewhere down the line. Alas, it seems like god of Beyhad land only gave Maya all the brains and saare mard are left budhus including Arjun.

I did not get why Samay hid the slippers. 🤔

Prem's death was saddest phase of serial bu neccessary for progress of saanjh's character as it was difficult for few people to accept the fact that she was doing everything for ayaan and vandana NOT for revenge, after his death now its one of the solid reason to stand against maya...second reason is samay, as saanjh and even her family believe him blindly but this murder can bring true face of samay infront of saanjh which is crucial for saanjh to win over maya...about possibilties of some other procedures for eliminating evidence like hacking or deleting mail that was possible but would have not lead to any conclusion...and about saanjh, she has to be strong and independent to face the cruel people and to know that life is not that easy and happy go lucky types all the time..
