Gopika the girl with next-door-image who was introduced to Tamil cinema by Cheran in his classic Autograph, is calling it a day! Yes, it looks like Prakash Raj'sVellithirai releasing this Friday will be her last film in Tamil.

This girl from Ollur near Trichur in Kerala went on to do many films in Tamil and Malayalam and won over the audiences with her performances. Whenever a role that has a nice homely bubbly girl is written, she has been the first choice among directors. And now the big buzz is that the pretty girl is planning to settle down as her parents are frantically looking round for a guy for her.

Some Malayalam vernaculars and film magazines have reported that she is getting engaged to one of her relatives, a software engineer in US. But it turned out to be false as Syrian Christians, the community to which Gopika belongs do not allow marriages between the relatives.

When Sify.com contacted Gopika who is shooting for a Malayalam film with Jayaram in Thodupuzha, her mother answered to queries regarding her. Says Gopika's mother, "Yes, we are looking for a groom for Gopika, and news pertaining to her engagement is false. As parents, we are anxious to see her settle down in 2008. She has three films in Malayalam and after Vellithirai we have not signed any new films in Tamil".
