After a drama-filled encounter against the hosts that ended in a Super Over defeat, India A made a few changes. Prabhsimran Singh was left out, with Arya promoted to open alongside Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The pair added 75 runs in just eight overs. Sooryavanshi, who had to contend with non-cricketing issues in the lead-up to the game, made an unusually scratchy 38 off 28 balls.

Sri Lanka A captain Sahan Arachchige drew the battle lines ahead of his team's tri-series final against India A at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Sunday, June 21. However, he asserted that his team won't be targeting Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who had a physical altercation with Sri Lanka A batter Vishen Halambage the last time these two teams faced each other.

The incident happened after India A lost the Super Over against Sri Lanka A on Monday, June 15. Sooryavanshi shoved Halambage, who had reportedly been sledging the 15-year-old since the first time these two sides met in the tri-series on June 9. Since then, Halambage has been fined and Niroshan Dickwella, who tried to pacify things, has been sanctioned. However, the BCCI stated that they won't pull up Sooryavanshi as the incident happed on the field of play and left it to the match referree to decide his fate.

Amid the chaos, Arachchige made it clear that his squad has moved past the incident and added that they won't be targeting the Rajasthan Royals' batter on Sunday.

The boys are not targeting anyone or anything. We are just enjoying ourselves. In a close game like a Super Over, emotions come out. That's normal," Arachchige told Sportstar.

The 30-year-old exuded confidence, saying that his team has no issues in the batting department and the bowlers have also stepped up. Sri Lanka A topped the group with three wins and one defeat from four matches.

"With the batting, there is no issue. And with the bowling, every fast bowler and spinner is doing very well. I think we are in good shape," the left-handed batter said.

Meanwhile, Sooryavanshi is due for a big knock, as he has thrown away some blistering starts during the campaign. In four innings, he has scored 117 runs at a strike rate of 153.95. The Bihar batter will look to make a mark in the summit clash.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) appears to have cracked the whip on the players involved in the disciplinary breaches during Monday's tri-series clash in Dambulla. Cricbuzz understands that Pradeep Jeyapragash, the match referee for the tempers-marred contest between Sri Lanka A and India A, has announced sanctions on the players involved, with Vishen Halambage believed to be among the principal recipients of the punishment.

It is learnt that there was no formal hearing as such, and Jeyapragash (42), who played his only international match in 2005 against India, imposed the sanctions based on the reports of the on-field umpires. Incidentally, Jeyapragash's lone international appearance was an ODI at the very same venue where this match was played.

There is a sense of regret within the Sri Lankan cricket community over the way events unfolded on Monday evening. Sources say the disappointment is exactly not over the incident itself, but also over the fact that an altercation between Indian and Sri Lankan players took place on Sri Lankan soil.

Bahutule says Sooryavanshi will learn with experience

On Tuesday evening, the Indian Senior team management weighed in on the incident involving Sooryavanshi. "I think it was an unfortunate incident. But we don't know how he was provoked," Team India spin bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule said in Lucknow.

"Because as far as I know Vaibhav, he is a very composed boy. I'm sure there are experienced coaches there who will make him understand. And I think the Sri Lankan players should also be educated in terms of how they need to behave. And so does it go with us. We will make sure that information is given to him as to why that happened. But he will learn. He's a young kid and going forward, some sort of understanding will be there with him. I'm sure he will not repeat it."
