Yep, in the original, it was Lakshman. Not Shatrughan, not Pushkal, not Chandraketu
In last night's episode, one thing the Sagars managed to do was be consistent - show K-L as being a lot more respectful towards Shatrughan than in the original serial. When Shatrughan gets to see them, they greet him as chacha, explain why they captured the horse, stated that Rama would have to come to them, and not them go to him, and finally, when Shatrughan tells them that a battle is inevitable, they do charan-sparsh and seek his blessings. While declining to bless them w/ victory, he tells them that if they have no unbecoming motive, then they would definitely see it fulfilled. Then it goes to the battle.
In the battle w/ Lakshman, unlike in the previous serial, they don't bring up his deserting Sita.
