| Inspired by Ang Lee's action-packed, box-office hit Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, which featured some stunning martial arts choreography, CID — Special Bureau will have actors flying and doing somersaults in mid-air in the series titled The Mystery of the Blackhole.
This six-episode series will air from July 11.
The stunts for this Sony bi-weekly were shot on Sunday at Filmalaya Studios, Andheri.
It has Inspector Tejali (Manasi Varma) trapped by the dreaded killer Koyta (Nagesh Bhosale making a special appearance).
Tejali fights with her bare hands against Koyta who is armed with choppers.
As the action reaches a high point, senior inspector Pratap (Nimai Bali) joins in to save Tejali.
Interestingly, the stunt sequences have been directed by producer B P Singh on a multi-camera setup.
"I turn to direction occasionally and when we conceived this sequence, I decided to wield the camera myself.
Wire fights like these are a novelty on Indian television. Actors Nemai Bali, Nagesh Bhosle and Manasi Varma are doing the stunts without any stunt doubles," he says.
Singh, whose shows include Aahat 2 (Sony) and Raat Hone Ko Hain (SaharaOne), also has some mid-air hijinks in the on-going The Bone Marrow series of CID — Special Bureau. How it was done
This fight is maneuvered by dozens of wires, harnesses, cranes and pulleys.
Once the scene is edited, the wires and other equipment will be cleaned frame by frame on computer.
Viewers will only see the actors jumping above ground, making 360 degree turns, kicking in air, flying from one point to another, doing somersaults, etc. |
