Although I also defend Armaan for the prank, my explanation for that simply is that Armaan wanted Sid to become angry and wanted to make Sid think that he needs to be responsible and no-nonsense types to concentrate on his work and shut up Armaan and others who think he isnt mature. But you provided a totally different angle to the prank.
Whatever it is, we know Armaan meant good for him. He is a human, and he has flaws. He thought of something that could have hurt Sid, but in the end, it was all for his good.
