Hey There !

The show has been on air for two episodes, and there is a pattern that I noticed. For the contestants who do not hail from well off backgrounds the channel seems to be showing their life stories, tear saga's and blah... I mean are we really interested in that stuff?

This is a dance show we are watching, not a drama. We could conveniently flip to numerous daily dramas that air if we wanted to see that.

I mean c'mon it's like the channel is showing their daily routines, house, family members and all. I don't care if you're a beggar or a millionaire. It's a dance show, if you can dance then you're in. There should be no other criteria here. And if that is genuinely the case, then why all this drama?

i agree but let thm share there problems acha lagta hai sun ke but i dnt like whn thy start crying ..😵...its ok ...but tell thm show more of Hrithik thatz it ..😆 😉

that makes me sick seeing them crying

damn sake its only a reality dance competition

its no big deal win or loose is it,

i would't cry if i fail to enter the next level

infact i be proud tthat i reached the point where i showed the dance to the judges

LOL

this rona dhona reminds me of typical saas bahu dramas

Its a reality show, what do u expect, all reality shows cash in on tear sagas of the contestants , the stories of their struggles, how this show means everything to them , how this is their one last chance to prove themselves, all shows, in all channels do it to attrack viewership and increase vote bank of the contestants.

while the truth of struggles is true most of the time, and the fact that the show is such an important opportunity, last chance or stuff like that, it becames repetitive and hence , even if they r true , they lose their credibility.

Acc to me , this whole thing also creates a discrimination and casteism . It is as if, those coming from relatively well off families lack talent, or lack dedication, or the show is not that important to them, or haven't gone through any struggles.

*sigh* this is how it has always been and it will not change, since these shows are again watched by the saas bahu people only, and nothing sells more than tears.

it's part of da package i guess and u can't expect anythin less or out of da box when it comes to reality shows...

in a way it's good so dat it shows an ordinary person can make it huge one day but they shouldn't overdo it to grab sympathy cz those ppl do not beg for sympathy at all. they live respectfully with watever they have!!

agree with tannista on dis... production house and tv channel does all dis to increase trp!!

Haha, one thing we both agree on is that there needs to be more of Hrithik Roshan, and soon ! 😆 And people really need to stop crying. Histrionics, if you ask me.

Haha, I totally agree with you. It just get's so annoying. Like there were some cntestants who I really liked, and then they started crying and I was like...'Ermm, really now'. 😆

I totally second your opinion, and what you say makes sense. I just wish we could focus more on credibility and not backgrounds, but like you said, this is their vote bank, I guess :/

I don't know Aru. Part of me gets really annoyed when I don't see enough dancing (like at the start where Farah, Vaibhavi and Hrithink were just talking at us fo ages). But then, I am quite interested to see the backgrounds of some of the contestants, e.g. Dinanath the 'fruit-wala,' and that girl in Kolkota that supports her family. I think it's really interesting to see that they struggle so much, but are still fantastic dancers.

Having said that, the moment people start crying, I stop admiring their courage. I think that's why Dinanath and the girl in Kolkota stood out to me. Sure, they're aware that they have a tough life, but they're both go-getters. They're not sitting around crying about their lives. The moment the judges told them to dance, all their worries were forgotten.

I think there needs to be a balance. I want to see enough of their lives to see a personal touch to the show, but not so much that it overpowers the dance element of the show and results in purely sympathy votes. The criteria for judging should be based on dance, and not on financial status etc.

But kya kare? The Indian audience, in general, is so senti that these tactics work to garner TRPs. And that's why, as Tannistha and NaDzGirl say, the rona dhona is just part of any Indian reality show.
