Chennai Court grants divorce to Prabhu Deva and Latha

Actor, director and choreographer Prabhu Deva and his wife Ramlath alias Latha, who were married for 15 years, have been granted a divorce by the Chennai Court last Thursday. The divorce was by mutual consent.

Prabhu and Latha got married in 1995 and have two kids. The couple had been living separately for the past few years, after Prabhu got involved with Southern actress Nayanthara during the making of their film Villu in 2009. The news about their plans to separate became evident when Latha filed a petition in the family court seeking for restoration of conjugal rights against Prabhu. Latha, who was also an actress before marriage, alleged that Prabhu was neglecting his family and did not provide even the minimum financial assistance to family members.

As per the divorce agreement, Prabhu has paid Rs. 10 lakhs to her as permanent alimony. He has also transferred his property along with two cars to her name. For his children, he transferred his 22-cent land at Injambakkam village and also the property at 'Alekhyas Kaushik Meadows' in their names. The kids are under Latha's custody but the court granted Prabhu the liberty to have access to them as he wished. Prabhu has also agreed to bear the costs of their education and marriage. In return, Latha has agreed to relinquish all her rights and claims over the actor and his other properties and has agreed to withdraw all the cases she filed against him.

Ah what a scandal this was, can't believe Nayanthara and Prabhu Devan are actually getting hitched.
