BRC did a Ramayan???!!! 😕 Never saw it, but even if I did, I couldn't have reconciled myself to Nitish Bharadwaj as Rama, since Rama and Krishna had very different and contrasting personas.

Anyway, I voted Gurmeet. Rama was supposed to be a very magnetic personality that one would fall in love with instantly, and Gurmeet fits that bill perfectly. Arun Govil somehow never came across to me as a kshatriya warrior, which is what Shri Rama was - he came across more as a saint and a preacher. Nothing wrong with that, since it was a role that Shri Rama did play, but it wasn't his primary role, and his kshatriya persona is something that Gurmeet, imho, captures far better.

Just my $0.02.

Arun Govil😳😳😳

No one to this day has acted as best as Arun Govil (just my opinion). His acting was excellent, totally up to par with Ram's personality.

No doubt Gurmeet's good also, but I never get a godly feeling from his personage.

Two things I found disturbing about this new Ram's personality was that he pressed Sita's feet, and he twice professed that he would never forgive Ravan, which anyone who read Ramayan would know that that never happened. Arun Govil looked like Maryada Purushotham Ram, and acted like Maryada Purushotham Ram. Gurmeet, although good, just eminates a feeling of any normal human being in trouble.

Thanks for bringing up this discussion. Whoever answers this question/ poll must have seen both the Ramayans intimately.Because, to be neutral, one needs to know both the options equally well. Each is unique.

Like, myself, I watched each and every episode of the old Ramayan as well as most part of this Ramayana. In the older Ramayan days (I was probably in my seventh standard, there was no other choice of Ram than Arun Govil. That time he used to portray Vikramaditya in Vikram aur Betaal. Those days, there was no computer, no special effects, but still it bacame so popular.

But for me, I think Gurmeet is born to play Ram, even my father who is over 65, says that he wonders how come Sagar team got such a perfect Ram. He just suits the character like anything. Only thing I feel he should work on is when he delivers high-pitch dialogues.That will make him the best.

I also agree with Omshanti, that we should have an objective opinion. I have only seen clips of old Ramayan with Arun Govil. He was good for that time period. I voted for Gurmeet because he suits the role so much better. His appearance, manner, look, walk, dialogues and everything. I have loved his acting from the moment he appeared on screen!! I joined this forum because of him😊 My dad who is 77 years old, loves to watch Gurmeet in Ramayan and says how much he resembles his idea of Ram.

He is the most handsome amongst all actors who played the role of lord Ram. He has the most beautiful big eyes perfect for the role. He looks like a hero, a warrior, a soft hearted human being. Aur kya kahoon hamaare kamal nayan ke baare mein

Arun Govil, no one else can be Lord Ram for me, no one. Gurmeet is also good, and although Arun Govil looked too old, he was not at all bad looking, and he acted beautifully.

P.S. (Sunil Lahri was/is better than everyone!😆)

Even though I prefer Gurmeet and Debina to Govil and Dipika, I nonetheless think that for Lakshman, Sunil Lahiri stands unmatched by any other Lakshman, including Ankit Arora.

P.S. Any idea whether Vijay Arora (Indrajit of the old serial) and Ankit are related?

I definitely like Arun Govil...but I LOVE & absolutely LOVE Gurmeet, as purvi put it so well!!!!! In this day & age u can't see many actresses/actors portraying Godly characters.....However, Gurmeet & Debina have done so well....that words are just a minor expression of the many wonderful accolades these two truly deserve. I mean can any of you guys think of NE young actor in current telly industry portraying RAM, SITA, LAXMAN, URMILA, BHARAT, SHATRUGNA at all instead of the current actors portraying them!!!!!! I can't....& maybe its bc i'm used to seeing Gurmeet, Debina, Ankit etc playing their roles...but i tried to place different actors that i even love from saas-bahu serials...& just cudn't imagine it!!!!!

Think about it....I've seen a few episodes of Ekta's ridiculous KHMK👎🏼🤢 (which btw has so much distorted information that i stopped watching after the first few epi's)...& i'm sorry none of the characters fit theer roles or match up to it...the only one i did like was Sakshi Tanwar as Ganga...every1 else just looks like they are there to look good & not to portray the meaning of each character bc they haven't learned how to get in the skin of each character like our WONDERFUL BEYOND WONDERFUL RAMAYAN😍!!!!!

I love Gurmeet's acting in every aspect, the devoted son, caring brother, faithful friend, & oh so loving husband. What more can you ask for or expect!!!!!! I really love how he has portrayed both avatars of Vishnu bhagwan & Ram bhagwan!!!! Just too good.....i even imagine Gurmeet as Vishnu bhagwan....😆.
