Search Options

Can you make more than two search options, like user_name and topic?

For instance, you can search on posted_by (User_Name) or content in the posts like Google?

Can the search field at least have other options to search b, for example if I wanted to search for a certain written update by date, it doesn't give me much back. Please let me know if there are any other ways of doing this. Thanks.
